Its famous crystal factory, which is internationally known, employs more than 600 people, including some 20 "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" (Best Craftsmen in France). Thanks to an ancestral know-how, the objects that come out of the ovens since the 18th century are real jewels of the French art of living. The Baccarat crystal factory was founded in 1816 by the financier and industrialist Aimé-Gabriel d'Artigues on the site of the former Sainte-Anne glassworks. In 1764, King Louis XV had given permission to the bishop of Metz to create a glass factory on his land in Baccarat. Synonymous with excellence and exception, Baccarat has been lighting up the luxury market for 250 years!

First supplying the French Court with glass, chandeliers and candelabras, it soon seduced maharajas, tsars, sultans and emperors. The list of its sumptuous customers is rather long: the Emperor of Japan, the Shah of Persia, the Maharaja of Gwalior, the Sultan of Brunei, the Tsar of Russia Nicolas II, and of course the Elysée Palace! Today, as in the past, the crystal is still mouth-blown, hand-cut, engraved and decorated by hand by master glassmakers and master cutters among the best workers in France. This is the reason why each glass is a little different, especially in terms of its weight which may vary slightly.
