In-8, full sheepskin binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt lines, gilt motif in the panels, red title piece, 3 gilt lines on the covers, gilt edges, rubbed hinges, blunt corners; xij pages, 116 pages. Illustrated with 5 plates by Gravelot. Fenouillot de Falbaire was a poet and playwright. This play was performed on January 12, 1771 at the Comédie Française. Note the ex-libris in the form of a handwritten inscription on the front endpaper: "Miss Elizabeth Caminer, in Venice.
" Elisabetta Caminèr was a translator and editor of the literary journal "l'Europa Letteraria," directed by her father. She notably translated another play by Falbaire into Italian, "The Honest Criminal, or Filial Love." Very good interior condition, beautiful binding. Fine copy of this first edition.
